All recipes on this site exclude the following ingredients:

  • Nightshades (seldom usage)
  • Soy
  • Sugar, molasses, honey and agave

Celiac & Gluten-Intolerance

Dairy Allergies & Intolerances

  • GHEE – often used in Heartful Kitchen and on www.chefmariacooper.com, but substitution options are always given. Many people with dairy allergies and intolerances can tolerate ghee, as it does not contain casein, the main protein found in milk.

Auto-Immune Protocol Diet

  • During phase 1 of AIP, be aware that some of my recipes contain the following ingredients. In all cases except for the desserts, you may omit the nuts, stevia, and culinary herbs.
    • Nuts, Seeds & Nut and Seed Oils
    • Stevia
    • Culinary herbs from seeds (mustard, cumin, coriander, fennel, cardamom, fenugreek, caraway, nutmeg, dill seed)

GAPS diet
If following a GAPS diet, please note exclusions below as my recipes may occasionally contain the following ingredients. Read the recipes and often excluding the ingredient or substituting another ingredient is just fine.

  • Balsamic Vinegar – Permitted if no-sugar added
  • Carob
  • Coconut milk – Permitted if BPA free – Trader Joe’s or Natural Value brand which you can buy from Amazon, or many health food stores.
  • Preserved fish – such as canned wild salmon or sardines
  • Stevia
  • Canned vegetables such as capers and artichokes
  • Nuts – Permitted if roasted at home
  • Parsnips

If following a FODMAPS diet, please exclude or substitute for the following vegetables in recipes in Heartful Kitchen or on www.chefmariacooper.com. All other exclusions in FODMAPS are not included as ingredients in my recipes.
